Steve Stricker ends a 6 ½ winning drought at Westchester Country Club by birding his last four holes to be K.J Choi by 2 strokes and finishing 2 under 69 and 16 under 268 total. Stricker birdied an 8-foot putt on the par 5, 18th hole for the win. Raising his arms in triumph he hugged his caddie Tom Matthews. Matthews caddied for Sticker when he won the 2001 Match Play Championship in Australia.

Steve Stricker won 1.26 million dollars and 9000 Fed-Ex Cup points to take the lead in the standings and puts him more than 2000 points ahead of Choi. Rory Sabbatini (68) finished three strokes back to jump to third in the standings. Tiger Woods tumbled to No. 4 in the standings, 4,950 points behind Stricker, after skipping the first of four playoff events.
Stricker feels he is in a great position coming in to the final tournaments. Stricker with the crystal trophy in had was posing for photographers teering up and told his wife “take a picture because we’re not coming back.”
