Samsung World Championship Increases purses to 1 million dollars.
The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and organizers with the Samsung World Championship today jointly announced a purse increase for 2007 to $1 million. The event, which features an elite field of 20 players, increased the purse from $875,000 and now will feature a $250,000 first-place check.
“The Samsung World Championship showcases the season’s major championship winners along with the top performers from the LPGA Tour throughout the year, and we applaud Samsung for its continued commitment to the LPGA players with the purse increase to $1 million,” said LPGA Commissioner Carolyn F. Bivens.
